In the fair various of African food and baverage are introduced. One coffee import company introudced coffee bean at ATEF booth and welcomed people to taste the coffee. Feedbacks from them are all positive. | | |

The speakers include African Ambassadors and Representatives, experts from TAITRA, Export Import Bank, and experienced Taiwan businessmen in Africa.  | | 95.11.21 • Breakfast Meeting with H.E. Blaise COMPAORE, President of Burkina Faso | | | | | | While H.E. Blaise COMPAORE, President of Burkina Faso visited Taiwan, he made his time to join the breakfast meeting and had the opportunity to meet with Taiwanese businessmen. Compared to any other countries in Africa, Burkina Faso is a winner in its stabilized political situation; the standard of education among people may not be as high, but people work hard and the basic manpower is sufficient, and this will be a major advantage for those who invest in Burkina Faso. The President briefly introduced his country to Taiwan and followed by an oral presentation of the official from Burkina. At the end Taiwanese business individuals interacted with Burkina officials with lots of questions and discussions. | | |

On the first day we visited serveral factories and companies which included: San Long Industrial Co. Ltd (auto parts), Labelmen Machinery Co.(label printing machines), Industrial Techonology Research Institute and Hsinchu Science Park. Second day included Chin Fu Industrial Corp. (bamboo flooring machinery),Brands Healthy Museum (Nutrition food), and Johnson Fitness Techonology Co. (Fitness machines). | | |
 | | 95.10.9 • African Business Leaders visit Taiwan | |      | | | | ATEF organized with TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) an “African Business Leaders Visit Taiwan” by which African businessmen can obtain a basic perspective on the trade market of Taiwan. They can also take back this precious experience to their countries and promote Africa-Taiwan trade and investment. Six African Business Leaders coming from six different countries visited ATEF office on October 9th, 2006. African Heads of the Embassies and Offices also joined us to welcome these special guests. | | |
 | | 95.10.3 • 2006 Taipei International Textile Fair | |     | | | | Once again by the great advantages and conditions of AGOA (African Growth and Opportunity Act), African countries keep promoting their textile industry. Africa Taiwan Economic Forum represent seven African countries accredited in taiwan and join the Taipei International Textile Fair from October 3rd to 5th, 2006. We aim to attract more Taiwanese businessmen to invest in Africa. During the exhibition some African representatiaves have visited the fair and had more understanding on ATEF's activities and Taiwan Textile Industry. Many visitors found their intests in Africa and asked a lot of questions about investment and trade. | | |
 | | 95.8.24 • 2006 Antor Travel Mart in Hsinchu | |   | | | | Hsinchu is always a big market for tourism industry with its big purchasing potentials of the sicence park. This was the first time Antor held its travel mart focus in Hsinchu area. There were total 80 local agents and 60 something corporate accounts invited by two local airlines: China Airlines and Eva Air. 23 memeber countries of Antor joined the event with tourism brochures and small giveaways. Some members also sponsored the lunchon so that all guests and hosts enjoyed a nice afternoon. | | |
 | | 95.8.21 • Vist of Ambassador Johannes Spies, Director of Greater China, to ATEF | | | | | | Ambassador Johannes Spies, Director of Greater China of Department of Foreign Affairs of RSA, visited ATEF office during his busy schedule of visiting Taiwan. Accompanied by Mr. Petrus Meyer, representative of Liaison of South Africa in Taiwan and Ms Celliers, Ambassdor Spies was very interested in the mission and duties of ATEF. Mr Richard Lin, executive director of ATEF office especially prepared a two minutes powerpoin introduction and presented it to Amb. Spies, so that he had better undertanding about ATEF. His visit also ensures the good relations between RSA and ROC. | | |
 | | 95.7.21 • Quanta’s “Immersing in Arts”/ Collage of Nations—photography from Africa grand opening cer | |      | | | | On July 21st. 2006, Quanta Culture & Education Foundation holding the grand opening ceremony for the Collage of Nations—photography from Africa at the Quanta headquarter at Tao Yuan. The Africa ambassador and other representatives are invited and inaugurated. The vice president of the Quanta Group Mr. Lerung will be representing Quanta Group establishing the friendship and diplomatic relations with Africa country. Though Quanta Culture & Education Foundation, it accomplishing the work of exchanging international cultures. Furthermore, the ambassador of Malawi will be representing the Africa offer the flag to “Immersing of Arts” for schools exhibition purpose, officially introducing the beauty of Africa landscapes and customs though this photography exhibition. Quanta Culture & Education Foundation are looking forward this exhibition will open the global views of the students in Taiwan. | | |

 | | 95.6.16 • 2006 Africa Day Celebrations | |     | | | | President Chen Shui accompanied King Mswati of Swaziland to the Africa Day celebrations on Friday, june 16th, 2006. This was the first time two heads of state have visited the yearly event, which is held worldwide and is designed to celebrate African nations for their differences and serves as an opportunity for other nations to become aware of the trade opportunities and cultural exchanges available in Africa. This night we had around 300 guests celebrating together. King of Swaziland also brought a cultural group playing drums and dancing. It was a wonderful night for everyone. | | |
 | | 95.6.2 • 2006 Hsinchu Travel Fair | |     | | | | The 2006 Hsinchu Travel Fair took place at Windance Shopping Centre in Hsinchu. There were more participants this year compared to last year. The exhibition hall was divided into different areas: local government promotion zone, International travel zone, and leisure zone. The organizer also arrange various performance to attaract the visitors. This was the second time that Africa Taiwan Economic Forum joined the fair. We provided African travel information to local citizens. | | |

This time the Ambassador of Swaziland and Ambassador of Malawi also joined the opening and promoted their countries. | | |

Some countries even prepared some souvenirs to thank for the participation of the agents. | | |
 | | 95.3.22 • Seminar in Tainan on travelling to Africa | |      | | | | The first seminar of this year on the tourism in Africa took place in Tainan. Mr. Vish Badal, deputy representative of Liaison of South Africa, Mr. Richard Lin, executive director of ATEF, Miss Sophia Chen, manager of South African Airways, and two experienced travel experts all made a small introduction about the tourism in Africa. The turn out of the travel agents was good. In a short two hour time, they got to know more about Africa and how to sell their products. It's going to be very beneficial for the tourism in Africa. More tourists from Taiwan are also expected. | | |

Through the introduction of the Executive Director of ATEF, the Minister roughly understood the missions of ATEF. The Director indicated that the interaction between Embassy of the Gambia and ATEF office is stable and growning, which is very essential for the cooperation on commerce and industry for both countries. Taiwanese businessmen were invited to join the meeting and to exchange ideas with officials and businessmen from Sao Tome and Principe. President de Menezes briefly introduced the economical environment of Sao Tome to Taiwanese audiences and hopefully attracted them to invest in this beautiful western african island country. | | |

Apart from demostration food and drink samples of the different African countries, we also asked a coffee company that imports African coffee to be in the booth and promote their products. People could have a free cup of coffee and experience the good quality of African coffee. | | |

This group is from South African and all the dancers are from poor families or some of them are orphins. From November 2004 to October 2005 whoever joins this tour has the opportunity to win the prizes total valued 1 million NTD including one nissan RV. | | |

This year we joined the Hwalien Aboriginal and Stone festival, one of the big attractions in the eastern Taiwan. The African Ambassadors and Representatives also participated in the opening ceremony. The one month long festival attracted a big crowd to explore the beauty and treasure of Africa. | | |
 | | 93.7.5 • Competition of South African Youth Ambassador | |      | | | | For the first time Liaison of South Africa and ATEF office held the competition of South African Youth Ambassador. We'd like to encourage more youth to be interested in Africa's tourism, history and culture. There were more than 100 students participating in the competition. After an exciting contest, three young people were chosen to travel for free in South Africa for ten days. When they were back, they are still youth Ambassadors and will promote South Africa in any necessary occasion. | | |

ATEF also provided four traditional robes of Africa for the travel mangers to show the unique style of African dresses. | | |

The subject is "Discover Africa", therefore three speakers prepared interenting topics for the audience. Mr. Richard Lin, Executive Director of ATEF talked about Africa of past and of present. Tony Sun of South African Airways talked about trip in Southen Africa. Ronnie Chang, GM of UNO Travel talked about first discovery of Africa. There were more than 100 citizens joining the activity and had a basic prospective on Africa in a short period of time. | | |

It has the purpose to promote tourism of each coutnry. A Taichung-Changwa seminar was organized on 25-27th,September, 2003. As a new member of ANTOR, ATEF office participated this semniar and got to know the local travel agents and associations of Taichung and Changwa. After the semniar the tourism bureau of Changwa county has organized a half dat outing in Chaungwa so that we understand better the local tourism resources. | | |
 | | 92.9.20 • Africa-Taiwan Trade Workshop, ATTW | |      | | | | ATEF office has organized an Africa-Taiwan Trade Workshops for all African diplomats accredited to Republic of China. The first course was on Friday, September 19th, 2003. Africa has eight hundred million of population with rich resources and environment. However because of the geographical distance and lack of information transfer, it is difficult to sell the products made by competitive labor force and raw materials from Africa to Taiwan. It is for this reason ATEF office organizes this Africa-Taiwan Trade Workshop (ATTW) by which African diplomats of the African embassies and trade offices have the basic perspective on the trade market of Taiwan. They can also bring back this precious experience back to the countries and promote Africa-Taiwan trade. Yesterday's workshop was a big success. We invited ICDF Assistant Secretary General, Pai Po Lee, Section Chief of International Trade department of Council of Agriculture, Mr. Chen and two famous intructors on International Business: Professor Tzeng Bou and Professor Chien Yon Kuang. The participants have learned the valuable lesson from them. | | |
